So, as a comparison of Google Pay per click and Facebook ads/PPC, I want to focus on the effectiveness of each type and its place in the online marketing world. There are alot of ways to measure the results including branding, conversion rate, Click through rate, etc. But the graph below on this case study shows cost per conversion as my metric of success.

This test posted on the internet today was performed using a restaurant chain with the primary conversion being a downloaded coupon on their main landing page. The test ran for one month using Facebook, Google search and Google display targeted to only three major United States cities. The same creative was used for both the FB and Google display ads to ensure the comparison was as accurate as possible. Also, the same daily budget limit was also applied to each marketing  channel. After the 1 month test, the following results were compiled.

These are some compelling numbers and really show what is possible because so many people spend so much time on Facebook. I am an SEO specialist and have used Google PPC successfully and was very shocked by these results to say the least.

I did expect the greater impression totals, but it was very intriguing to see lower cost per clicks and the resulting cost per conversions.  This is just one isolated test using precise geo targeting and small budgets, but  it’s still hard to ignore the data from this test. So, should everyone jump on the Facebook Ad bandwagon? Probably not, but I am sure looking at it alot closer.

One of the greatest things about Facebook Ads is the fact that you can create a daily spending limit. If you only want to spend $20.00 a day, which I highly suggest you start out with that amount, you can set up for your Facebook  Ad to stop running once it hits your daily limit. This is a big deal for you because you can start out small and then increase it as you learn more about Facebook Pay Per Click.  The sky is the limit right now with Facebook.
